Advertising Feature. The most notorious road traffic accident death was with little doubt the death of Princess Dianna on 31st August 1997 in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris. Her lover Dodi Fayed perished also along with Henri Paul, the driver of the Mercedes in which they were travelling. A bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones survived the crash despite sustaining serious injuries. It is believed that the crash happened as Henri Paul attempted to get away from press photographers who were in pursuit. Despite that there have been numerous investigations and inquests on the crash many people remain dissatisfied that everything about it has not yet been revealed and conspiracy theories abound.
Another famous celebrity road traffic accident death was James Dean. He died on 30th September 1955. James Dean was an icon of his time, representing teenage angst and the call to freedom. Rebel without Cause was his most famous film in which he epitomised this outlook on life. He loved speed and owned a Porsche 550 Spyder which he raced. On the day of his death he was driving his Spyder on would become Route 46 when a Ford having crossed over the road appeared in front of him; they collided head-on and Dean later died from the injuries he sustained.
Albert Camus the Nobel Prize winner, philosopher and author met his death in a road traffic accident on 4th January 1960 at Le Grand Fossard in Villeblevin, France. He was a passenger in a car being driven by Michel Gallimard, his publisher. He also met his death.
In fact over the years, many thousands of famous people have prematurely dies as the result of a traffic accident.
Sometime in their life most people will experience if only briefly the fear that a loved one has been killed or seriously injured on the road, and for a great many people there comes that dreaded knock on the door which they open to a policemen bearing mortifying news.
The loss of a loved one, the loss of a breadwinner, the loss of a child can have bewildering consequences. Perhaps at such times the last thing on people’s minds will be a compensation claim, but sometimes, especially if the lost one is a breadwinner, compensation is necessary to enable life to go on. Anyone in these circumstances should not hesitate to contact a sympathetic solicitor with experience in road traffic fatalities and their consequences and Irwin Mitchell is a good place to find one.
